Our 3 Day Liveaboard Reef Encounter offers something for everyone with a range of tour you can choose to snorkel, scuba dive, try a resort dive or learn to scuba dive.
Live and sleep on the reef and see it at its best – day and night! Reef Encounter is an excellent alternative to a resort based holiday and a fantastic upgrade from a day trip.
With daily departures from Cairns by boat or helicopter, stay for one or as many nights as you like in superbly appointed staterooms all with ensuite, or indulge and upgrade to the luxurious Top Deck Club.
Accommodating only 42 guests at any time, Reef Encounter is large enough to provide all the comforts of the largest Cruise ships yet small enough to enable access to spectacular reef locations inaccessible to other vessels.
With Reef Encounter, guests have the opportunity to experience two full days and to sleep on the reef, giving them more time to relax and enjoy the experience, in and out of the water.
This is especially important for beginners as they have plenty of time and encouragement from friendly staff to help them get used to the water.

I spent 3 days, 2 nights on Reef Encounter, and all I can say is I had an awesome time. I met alot of people from around the world and we all had a great time enjoying living out on the Great Barrier Reef. My thank you goes out to Hank, or Hack (sorry about getting this wrong) the skipper for taking the boat to great reefs and always cheerful.
To Tori the purser for making sure that my time on Reefy was comfortable, and that if there was anything she could help with, all I had to do was ask, that is if she had not asked me first.
Then there is the dive team, Lucy, Scott and all the DMs and DMTs that showed me some magical dive spots. Especially our new spot the 2 Block Bommie, WOW, that was one of the best dives I have been on. The corals were amazing and the marine life so plentiful.
My only regret was that I did not take any pictures as I was to busy looking at everything down there. Thank you all for the great time and making me feel like part of your family.
I will definitely be back again. I did not want to leave and thank you Tori for asking me if I wanted to stay longer,but I was unable to change my plans otherwise I would have had no hesitations to stay on board.

Board the transfer vessel ‘Reef Experience’ at Cairns Marlin Marina for breakfast, check-in and your journey to Reef Encounter

Arrive onboard Reef Encounter for your ‘Welcome & Safety Talk’ before being shown to your room to settle in and relax

Water Session: Time to snorkel for all guests before lunch
